The Correctional Training Facility (CTF) at Soledad, in partnership with the Veterans Transition Center, hosted a community-oriented car show and fundraiser on May 17.
The event took place on Facility B, also known as the Veterans Hub, with incarcerated individuals from Facility A and B turning out to see the custom vehicles showcased by staff and community volunteers.
Simultaneously, a food sale fundraiser was held across all three facilities at CTF. The incarcerated population were able to purchase and collect specially prepared food items.
The event also featured a friendly badminton match between staff, volunteers, and the incarcerated population, promoting positive interaction and teamwork.
Additionally, attendees enjoyed musical entertainment provided by a band, with Sgt. Glaze participating alongside incarcerated musicians to perform several songs. Further enhancing the event, there was an art exhibit showcasing creative pieces from the incarcerated community, and hobby craft model cars were on display.
“Events like these are incredibly important because they foster a sense of community, support rehabilitation, and strengthen our bonds with local organizations,” said Warden Edward J. Borla. “It demonstrates our commitment to positive engagement and provides an opportunity for everyone involved to give back.”
The funds raised from the day’s activities will directly benefit a local community non-profit organization, underscoring the institution’s dedication to meaningful community partnerships and support.
