People have strong opinions when it comes to the Costco food court. They bemoan the loss of old menu items from Polish hot dogs to cinnamon pretzels. So we imagine Costco fans would be excited at the return of an old recipe.
Fans did in fact seem elated this spring when Costco brought back the hot turkey and provolone sandwich. But the response was very different when Costco recently introduced the Combo Calzone—an apparent twist on the Combo Pizza from pre-pandemic days. This new food court calzone is filled with pepperoni, sausage, cheese, onions, peppers, olives, and mushrooms.
“Those toppings sound familiar… It’s the combo pizza!” a Costco subredditor notes. “We kept asking for it and it looks like they folded.”
Not quite, though. The new calzone costs $6.99. That’s quite a bit more than two slices of cheese or pepperoni pizza, which famously cost just $1.99 apiece. Plus, most people just want the original Combo Pizza.

Some said the new calzone is delicious, but others aren’t so sure.
“I actually had it the other day (Lansing, Michigan),” shares DesertRat22225. “Its alright. its kind of like a big slice folded on itself, so it has a ‘crust’ (which you can see in the photo) I felt like it was a little overcooked but maybe it was just my location. I don’t think itd be [something] I would get very often, but I don’t regret trying it. I think the regular pizza is better.”
Duly noted. Sometimes the original is best—at least that’s how we remember it. But as one person suggests, “You can unfold it and pretend.”
