What’s new on the food scene? 13 recent Fayetteville-area openings and 3 closings

From new coffee shops to international cuisine and family-run bakeries, Cumberland County’s dining scene has seen substantial activity since the start of 2025.

More than a dozen restaurants have opened across Fayetteville, Hope Mills and Spring Lake in the first four months of the year, while a few longtime favorites have closed their doors.

Here’s a look at 13 of the restaurants and cafes that opened and three that closed in Cumberland County’s local food landscape.

Openings in Cumberland County

Starbucks

Fayetteville State University celebrated the opening of a new two-story Starbucks at 1200 Murchison Road in early January. The 5,894-square-foot Starbucks features a multi-level space with a student collaboration space and a balcony. 

Rockfish Seafood Smoke Pit & Bar

Rockfish Seafood Smoke Pit & Bar, launched in Raeford in 2022, made its move to Fayetteville in 2025, opening its new location at 519 Grove St. on Jan. 24. Owner Kareem Kelly told the Observer that the relocation was driven by a desire for better customer access, indoor seating and the addition of a full bar — all part of his plan to serve up a mix of land and sea.

Snowy Town

Snowy Town, a Korean coffee and dessert shop, opened Feb. 14 at 1828 Owen Drive, Suite A, near Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with a menu featuring a Korean shaved ice dessert known as bingsu, along with a variety of drink options.

Aloha Poke & Sushi

Aloha Poke & Sushi at 1052 Lillington Highway in Spring Lake opened March 1 in the Cedarwood Shopping Center with a diverse menu of poke bowls and sushi.

Miller’s Brew

Miller’s Brew, a coffee shop with a mission to support people with disabilities, opened its second location in Fayetteville on March 12, inside Cafe West at the West Regional Library, 7469 Century Circle, according to a news release from Cumberland County. The brand’s first location at 1401 Morganton Road opened about two years ago, and both serve the same menu of coffee drinks and treats.

Legacy Rolls

Legacy Rolls, at 1161 N. Bragg Blvd. in Spring Lake, opened March 7, according to owner Jerry Canada. Offering more than just fresh-baked goods, father and son duo Jerry and Justin Canada are serving up history with a family recipe that dates back more than 100 years.

Oishi Bubble Tea

Oishi Bubble Tea, a new spot featuring bubble tea, snacks, ramen and karaoke, opened March 10 at 5855-7 Yadkin Road in Fayetteville, the Observer reported.

SimLo’s Jerk Hut

SimLo’s Jerk Hut & Island Groceries opened its expanded location on March 19 at 2945 Hope Mills Road in Fayetteville, according to Health Department records. Taking over the former Island Tease space and the neighboring suite, the new location includes both a dine-in restaurant and a Jamaican grocery store, the Observer reported.

Chipotle

The fast-casual restaurant chain, Chipotle Mexican Grill, opened its 2814 Town Center Drive location in Hope Mills on March 26, the Observer reported. The restaurant features a drive-thru pick-up lane for digital orders and is Cumberland County’s fifth location.

Dank Burrito

Dank Burrito opened April 1 at 5508 Raeford Road in Fayetteville, taking over the former Hardee’s building, with a menu of innovative burritos and global fillings.

Caribou Coffee

Caribou Coffee opened its first Fayetteville location April 4 at 2606 Bragg Blvd. near Eutaw Shopping Center.

The Wing Company

The Wing Company opened its newest North Carolina location at 400 S. Main St. in Spring Lake on April 7, the location’s manager said May 13. The North Carolina-based chain restaurant offers wings, burgers, wraps and salads, and operates locations in Hope Mills, Pembroke, Coats and Lumberton.

Touchdown Wings

Georgia-based chain Touchdown Wings opened its first Fayetteville location on May 1 at 3440 Ramsey St., near Methodist University. The restaurant replaces a former Bojangles and serves cheesesteaks, fried rice, burgers, seafood and boneless chicken wings in 30 flavors.

Closings in Cumberland County

K&W Cafeterias

K&W Cafeterias permanently closed its Fayetteville location at 1758 Owen Drive on March 25, the Observer reported. It originally opened in Fayetteville in 1973.

Song Long

Just shy of two years after opening, Vietnamese restaurant Song Long closed at 5112 Yadkin Road in Fayetteville. The restaurant announced its closure in an April 9 Facebook post.

Mash House Brewing Company

Mash House Brewing Company, Fayetteville’s longest-running brewery, closed April 10 after 24 years, the Observer reported. The brewpub at 4150 Sycamore Dairy Road was known for its IPAs and house-brewed beers.
