Carla Zampatti’s return to the runway at Australian Fashion Week 2025 was not only a tribute to the late designer’s enduring legacy, it was also a showcase of this season’s standout runway hair trend – bold side parts and sculptural waves.
Crafted by Shark Beauty’s Hair Director Madison Voloshin, the hair look was inspired by Zampatti herself – strong, polished, and deeply feminine. “Carla had beautiful hair with a lot of strength,” said Voloshin. “I once had the privilege of styling her hair, and this was my way of honouring her brand’s DNA.”
The show, held at Circular Quay West in Sydney, was a masterclass in simplicity, with the hair amplifying the designer’s clean, powerful lines. And as the official hair sponsor of AFW 2025, Shark Beauty ensured every model’s look held its shape against the waterfront breeze.
Strength, Simplicity, and Side Parts

“To get the hair to float as models walk – but also hold its integrity outdoors – you have to prime the hair properly,” Voloshin explained. His team began by applying a volumising mousse for body and control. Hair was sectioned in a brick-lay pattern and curled using the FlexStyle auto-wrap attachment, ensuring lift from the root for volume and polish.
After each curl was clipped to cool in place, the set was brushed through with a soft dressing brush, creating that fluid, sculptural wave. For textured or resistant hair types, stylists used the Shark SpeedStyle with a round brush to smooth the roots and lock in shape using the cool shot setting. “This look is about balance,” Voloshin said. “It’s feminine but grounded. Minimalist, yet bold. It’s classic runway hair, updated for today.”
