Devangi Nishar Parekh is all set for her red carpet debut at Cannes Film Festival 2025. She shared her excitement with t2ONLINE

Devangi Nishar Parekh was busy with last-minute preparations before she flew off to Cannes for her big red carpet debut, when t2ONLINE called her, on Tuesday afternoon. This would be the managing director of Aza Fashions’, first international red carpet and the lovely Devangi was excited. “I am super excited. I have always wanted to take Indian fashion global and have this conversation with a global audience about the value and tremendous potential of Indian designers and the craftsmanship that we have to offer. I have always done this with Aza as well, taking Aza online. This is a really great platform because it is a blend of fashion, film and it gets so many eyeballs,” said Devangi.

She is packing a whole of lot of Indian couture, especially Calcutta labels. Think Anamika Khanna, Nupur Kanoi and Richa Khemka.

For one of the red carpets, Devangi is planning to wear Rimzim Dadu. A stunning Tarun Tahiliani look is also a part of Devangi’s moodboard.

“I have always thought whenever I walk the red carpet, I would do it in a modern version of a sari. It is such a versatile garment. Now you are seeing so many international designers, making versions of a sari, whether it is Dolce & Gabbana or Chanel. Of course, our Indian designers do it the best. I am wearing two modern interpretations of a sari,” said Devangi. The Anamika Khanna piece she has chosen is an archival jacket. “It is fully hand-embroidered in true Anamika style. The idea is to wear pieces which tell a story and have a lot of craftsmanship value. I have done a lot of Calcutta because I love the work Calcutta has to offer. The city is very close to my heart,” said the Mumbai girl, married in Calcutta.

Devangi’s Cannes trip will be spread over four days. “I am hoping to have amazing conversations with people from not only India, but global tastemakers, to share insights and exchange ideas and also of course showcase Indian fashion. I am looking to talk about the brilliance our Indian designers have to offer. The last few years have been fantastic for India in terms of getting a lot of global visibility on the red carpet at Cannes or Shakira wearing Gaurav Gupta and Anamika Khanna and the Ambani wedding… and this year at the Met Gala too, there was so much more representation from India. This is all very exciting. I am excited to continue with that conversation and be a part of it,” she signed off.

We say, all the best!
