3 suspects arrested in deadly stabbing of Phoenix food truck vendor

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — More than one year after the deadly stabbing a food vendor in Phoenix,, police have announced multiple arrests.

On Monday, Phoenix police announced that Cameron Patterson, 33; Montel Reed, 32; and Cyrus Reed, 36 are all facing charges related to the murder of Heriberto Acosta.

Officers were called out to the area of 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2024. When they arrived, they found the 41-year-old Acosta seriously injured with multiple stab wounds.

Witnesses told officers that Acosta was in the process of closing down his food truck for the night when a vehicle pulled into the parking lot. Multiple men got out of the vehicle, and a fight began between the men and the food truck employees. During the fight, Acosta was stabbed multiple times by one of the men before they got back into the vehicle and left.

At this point, detectives have not released a possible motive for the attack, and say the investigation remains active.
