CHIPPEWA FALLS (WQOW) – Chippewa Falls took a trip back to the past over the weekend to show off their local history.
The Passed Past Here is a three day historical reenactment camp showcasing life in Chippewa Falls in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. It teaches about the rich history of lumberjacks, fur trading, Native American life, and what every day life was like here in the Chippewa Valley.
“It really brings home how Chippewa Falls developed,” said Jim Swanson, the camp’s Booshway. “You look around and ask why is that there? Why is this building here? Why is that neighborhood there? We help explain why that happened and how it happened.”
During the week, third and fourth grade students from schools all over the area visited the camp to see their local history, then the weekend was open for the public to visit.
The Past Passed Here is put on through the Chippewa County Historical Society.
