I moved to Fairbanks about nine months ago. Fortunately, through my position as an Alaska Fellow at the Cold Climate Housing Research Center (CCHRC), housing is provided. That means because housing was a given, I skipped a major stressor in a convoluted market and a system that works best through word of mouth. With my fellowship coming to an end, that time is over, and I now have to find housing.
I am excited to stay in Fairbanks and explore homes to live in, and even excited to hopefully live in a dry cabin. The prospect of living in a dry cabin is incredibly appealing to me because of the cheap rent and because I am constantly looking for ways to live more sustainably. A dry cabin provides that opportunity.
