SCRANTON, Pa. — Saturday marks the 33rd anniversary of the largest one-day food drive in the nation to stamp out hunger.
In our area, letter carriers from the post office along Stafford Avenue in Scranton collected non-perishable food donations from customers, which will go directly to local food pantries.
Those who donated left non-perishable food donations in a bag by their mailbox for the letter carriers to pick up.
Letter carriers and the United States Postal Service have collected over one point nine billion pounds of food over the 30-plus years of this national food drive.
