FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The National Association of Letter Carriers’ is hilding its ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ Food Drive Saturday.
Community members are invited to leave donations of non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes before their mail delivery time.
Then, letter carriers will collect the items as they deliver mail along their postal routes.
The donations will then be given to the Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County’s Neighborhood Food Network of 21 food pantries.
According to the organization, the ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ Food Drive is the country’s largest single-day food drive and gives residents an easy way to donate food to those in need.
Letter carriers say they ‘see the struggles in the communities they serve and believe it is important to do what they can to help, as the union continues its mission to help the millions of men, women, and children across America who face hunger in their communities every single day’.
