Join the nation’s largest one-day food drive and make a difference from your doorstep

The 32nd NALC Stamp out Hunger food drive is returning this Saturday.

May 10th, letter carriers in more than 10,000 communities will collect food donations during their routes.

Their mission is to restock food banks and pantries.

The USDA says that in 2024, 47.4 million people were food insecure.

“What you can do, is if you want to participate if you live in an apartment for your community, you can take food to any postal branch anywhere, the retail counter. Or, in Saint Joe county Martin Supermarkets have orange collection barrels and they’re taking the food for stamp out hunger” Marijo Martinec, CEO of Food Bank of Northern Indiana said.

This is the largest one day food drive in the nation and largest food drive for Food Bank of Northern Indiana every year.

“If you get a postcard in your mailbox, you would have received it this week, your community is participating in Stamp out Hunger. So, that’s it. Grab a few non-perishable food items, put them in a plastic bag, and put it by your mailbox. And a letter carrier or a volunteer is going to pick that up. In Saint Joseph county all the donations will go to here, the food bank of Northern Indiana.” Martinec said.

The goal is to collect 100,00 pounds of non-perishable food items to help restock the shelves in the time it is most needed.

Most needed items include:

  • Canned Soup
  • Boxed Dinner Meals
  • Dried Beans (pinto, black, great northern, kidney)
