Hoping for a dry Brookswood Community Car Show

One long-range online weather forecast is calling for a mix of sun and cloud in the days leading up to the Brookswood Community Car Show on Sunday, May 25, and the day itself – with no rain until the day after.

That would suit organizer Scott Strudwick just fine, after last year’s rain-drenched show at Brookswood Secondary School.

“It’s just a question of, is the weather going to cooperate,” said Strudwick, who was photographed at last year’s event, smiling despite getting doused in the downpour.

“We live in the West Coast,” Strudwick commented att the time.

Even with the rain, the show still raised thousands of dollars for Brookswood Secondary School, including two new scholarships.

Over four years, the show has been refined, so there won’t be any big change in 2025, Strudwick said.

“Again we’ve got bouncy castles, we’ve got face painters, we’ve got the kids zone – that obviously goes rain or shine, either outside or inside the gym. We’ve got food trucks, we’ve got a pancake truck, so there’s breakfast for the car guys and coffee in the morning. We’ve got over 60 students volunteering and hoping to raise money for the school again.”

Based on previous shows, he expects most entries will wait until the last minute.

Strudwick will be bringing two of his own cars, his 1932 Ford Highboy Roadster hot rod, and a 1967 Camaro.

He will also be bringing a portable awning to shelter the hot rod, just in case.

This year’s fundraising show will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brookswood Secondary, located at 20902 37A  Ave.
