Your Donation will be Doubled During Sheboygan County Food Bank Funding Drive

The Sheboygan County Food Bank is hoping that you’ll consider a donation toward their third annual Fund Food for Thought crowdfunding campaign to raise $100,000 for their program, Food for Thought for Kids.

The food Bank partners each year with 26 local schools and depends on teachers, counselors, principals and volunteers to help ensure that children at risk of hunger over the weekend get a bag filled with 10 nutritious food items at the end of each school week.

Kaitlin Krueger of the Sheboygan County United Way appeared with Jon Henseler on B93 Radio on Wednesday and outlined the scope of the effort, saying that, “It’s the third year that we’re doing this; we’re trying to raise $100,000 to support our Food for Thought for Kids program, so what that means is we’re supporting 650 kids for this upcoming school year, which is 150 more than we’re currently serving.”

Krueger said that the campaign to fund it is getting a big boost this time around.  “We just found out a few days ago that the Black Spring Foundation is going to do a $100,000 match, so if you’re able to donate, I guess the big pointer is, even just giving $6.25 feeds one kid for one weekend, so with the match, basically your impact is doubled.”

The Black Spring Foundation was founded in honor of Natalie Black Kohler, in part to support literacy in the Sheboygan Area School District as well as the Sheboygan County Food Bank.

Donations can be made through the Sheboygan County Food Bank Website.
