(WRGB) — Parents are being urged to check their pantries after Target announced a recall of over 25,000 units of Good & Gather Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Puree due to elevated levels of lead.
The recall, initiated by FRUSELVA USA of Miami, Florida, is being monitored by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Although classified as a Class II recall, which indicates a lower risk of serious health effects, prolonged exposure to lead—especially in infants and young children—can lead to developmental issues, learning disabilities, and lower IQ.

Consumers are advised not to use, sell, or distribute the recalled baby food. They should check the lot numbers and best-by dates on any Good & Gather baby puree pouches in their homes. If affected, consumers can return the product to their nearest Target store for a full refund.
Lead exposure is particularly harmful to children. Symptoms of lead poisoning may not always be visible but can result in long-term health issues such as behavioral changes, developmental delays, and cognitive impairments. If parents suspect their child may have been exposed, they should contact a healthcare professional immediately.
