Dick’s House of Sport is under construction in Amherst, promising rock-climbing, golf, batting cages, and apparel.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Construction has already begun on a new sporting goods store in Amherst.
The Boulevard Mall in Amherst made the announcement Tuesday on Instagram, sharing that Dick’s House of Sport will soon be coming to Western New York.

Dick’s House of Sports store locations offer amenities such as climbing walls and batting cages in addition to sport apparel and merchandise.
The social media post from @theblvdamherst reads in full:
“big news, sports fans 🤩 @dickshouseofsport is coming to the boulevard in a new building by lowe’s. gear up for rock-climbing walls, golf bays, batting cages, and all the latest apparel and equipment. stay tuned for more details! #theblvdamherst.”
And the sporting good store isn’t the only new build coming to Amherst. Last week, Amherst town officials completed a review for the Costco building permit application.
The first Buffalo-area location for Costco is planned for 4230 Ridge Lea Road with an expected opening date of spring 2026.
This is a huge step forward after News first broke in spring 2022 that Buffalo was getting its first Costco location. The next step in the process will be for the permit to be issued to a Costco representative.
