Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 15, Hoopeston Area 7.Micah Stanford and Cruz Dubois each had three hits for the Blue Devils (14-8) in a Vermilion Valley Conference win against the Cornjerkers (7-16), with Caden Kelemenic adding two hits and Cruz Dubois adding seven strikeouts to help the winning cause. Reydon Montez struck out four batters for the Cornjerkers.
Champaign Central 8, Peoria Notre Dame 1. Three hits from Carter Bleakney included a double and two home runs, while Oliver Brandow added two hits and Patrick Kennedy struck out 11 batters to help the Maroons (14-11-1) past the Irish in Big 12 Conference play.
LeRoy 6, Heyworth 4.Cole Wilson had a pair of hits and Andrew Fleming and Bo Zeleznik each drove in runs to power the Panthers (15-6) past the visiting Hornets in a Heart of Illinois Conference game.
Milford 5, Iroquois West 1. Nine strikeouts from Beau Wright helped the Bearcats (11-12) past the Raiders (9-10) in Vermilion Valley Conference play, with Aiden Frerichs and Colt Halpin adding two hits apiece to ignite the offense.
Oakwood 1, Armstrong-Potomac 0.Carsen Dudley hit a double and Xander Wilson struck out 11 batters to key the host Comets (15-9) past the Trojans (11-6) in Vermilion Valley Conference play, with Bryson Marcinko scoring the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ryan Edwards allowed six hits against six strikeouts in six innings of work for Armstrong-Potomac.
Okaw Valley 3, Villa Grove 2. It took eight innings for the host Timberwolves to defeat the Blue Devils (6-12) in Lincoln Prairie Conference play, with Max Wilson striking out nine batters in seven innings of work and Jackson Gire and Jesse Gire combining for five hits to lead Villa Grove.
Rantoul 2, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 1. A pair of runs in the first inning paved the way for the Eagles (11-9) to dispatch the Panthers (11-9) in Illini Prairie Conference play, with Levi Duitsman, Yovanny Solorzano and Holden Cargo collecting hits to back up four strikeouts in seven innings from Cargo. Kayden Vance had six strikeouts and a pair of hits to lead the Panthers on their home field.
Salt Fork 6, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 4.Jackson Remole scored a run during a two-hit effort, with Braxton Clem and Brayden Norton adding hits of their own for the Storm (13-7) during a 6-4 Vermilion Valley Conference win against the Buffaloes (3-16). Jace Latoz hit a home run and drove in two runs for the Buffaloes.
Unity 4, St. Thomas More 1.Tyler Henry pitched seven complete innings for the host Rockets (13-8) and struck out five batters to key an Illini Prairie Conference win, with Emmerson Bailey adding a hit and driving in a run to help the winning cause. Sam Kluesner had the lone hit for the Sabers (7-15), with their lone run coming from Michael Roesel.
Westville 10, Schlarman 0. Three hits from Ben Johnson, two hits from Easton Barney and eight strikeouts from Barney on the mound helped the Tigers (19-2) take down the host Hilltoppers in VVC play, with Lane Drake striking out three batters to lead Schlarman’s attack.
In softball
Argenta-Oreana 11, Maroa-Fosyth 10. An eight-inning nonconference thriller tilted toward the Bombers (12-10) after a three-run eighth frame, with three hits from Gracie Manning and two hits apiece from Emmy Reynolds, Elyssa Armstrong, Sophia Wicklund and Angelina Madrigal factoring into the winning effort.
LeRoy 12, Heyworth 1.Morgan Fleming and Laila Carr each hit doubles and home runs for the Panthers (23-4) in a Heart of Illinois Conference win against the Hornets, with Emily Mennenga adding two hits and driving in a run to help their cause in a five-inning game.
Milford/Cissna Park 8, Iroquois West 4.Addison Lucht and Madisyn Laffoon each had two hits for the Bearcats (12-8) in a comfortable VVC win against the Raiders (6-12), with Kami Muehling allowing four hits and striking out six batters across seven innings of work. Kyla Dewitt had two hits for Iroquois West.
Oakwood/Schlarman 5, Armstrong-Potomac 0.Irene Rangel allowed one hit and struck out 12 batters to lead the Comets (13-8-1) past the Trojans (13-10) in VVC play, with Caydence Vermillion, Emberlyn Schull and Rangel adding one hit apiece while driving in at least one run during the victory.
Monticello 3, St. Joseph-Ogden 2.Cassidee Stoffel struck out 11 batters in seven full innings to guide the host Sages (19-5) past the Spartans (19-8) in an IPC game. Sadie Walsh and Lucy Leatherwood had Monticello’s two hits, while Timera Blackburn-Kelley struck out three batters in six innings and drove in a run to lead the Spartans.
Salt Fork 9, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 3. Morgan Russell tallied three hits and Alexa Jamison, Brylie Barnett and Karli McGee each had two hits to power the host Storm (19-3) past the Buffaloes (3-15) in VVC play, with Russell adding eight strikeouts in a complete seven innings of work in the circle. Peyton McComas hit a triple for the Buffaloes.
Watseka 15, Chrisman 0.Sarah Parsons only allowed one hit in four innings of work for the host Warriors (5-12), who collected a VVC win against the Cardinals (2-9) thanks to a home run and a double from Noelle Schroeder, a home run and three RBIs from Abigail Neukomm and two runs and two RBIs from Sarah Parsons. Lindsi Smith had Chrisman’s lone hit.
Westville 6, Clifton Central 0. Fourteen hits helped the Tigers (23-2) secure a nonconference win against the host Comets, with Lilly Kiesel striking out eight batters, Taylor Valangeon hitting three doubles and Daylin Zaayer collecting two hits to round out a strong effort.
In girls’ soccer
Mahomet-Seymour 4, Centennial 0. Three first-half goals helped the host Bulldogs (10-4-2) secure a nonconference win against the Chargers (10-9-1), with strong efforts from Izzy Lietz, Ava Watkins and Hannah Creel helping secure the victory.
Monticello 6, Uni High 0.Elle Bodznick scored four goals and Megan Allen added two goals to key the Sages (22-2) past the Illineks in nonconference play.
In boys’ tennis
At Urbana. Singles wins from Jameson LaFave (6-1, 6-2) and Kyle Fan (6-1, 2-6, 10-7) and doubles wins from Robert Gao and Fan (6-4, 3-6, 10-7), Josh Persiani and Collins Rosch (6-3, 7-5) and LaFave and Ian Pan (6-1, 6-4) helped the Illineks to a 5-4 win against Normal U-High.
