
FERNLEY, Nev. (KOLO) – A man has been arrested after the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says he kidnapped and beat three kids in Fernley.
On Tuesday, at around 8:15 p.m. deputies in Fernley responded to the 200 block of Johnson Lane in Fernley in reference to a threats call. The caller told police that her brother was receiving threats over text message from someone. The caller told police they were in the area looking for their brother.
The caller was able to track the phone belonging to her brother. It was at this time that Lyon County Dispatch began receiving calls from the juvenile’s phone, and the juvenile told police he was in a basement with two other kids. The boy also reported the suspect had beaten them.
When police arrived at the location the boy’s phone pinged to, police made contact with the suspect, Gullermo Aboytes Saavedra, who was detained immediately.
Police then entered the backyard of the residence and discovered three boys held captive in the crawl space of the residence.
Police say two of the kids suffered substantial injuries from Saavedra beating them repeatedly with wooden tools. The kids told police that Saavedra had taken one of their phones and had threatened to kill them.
The kids were given medical attention and returned to their families.
Saavedra was booked into the Lyon County Jail on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, kidnapping with substantial bodily harm (X2), false imprisonment, false imprisonment resulting in substantial bodily harm (X2), child abuse (X3) and battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm (X2).
His bail was set at $972,500.
