Caleb’s Prayer Foundation plans 15th Annual Benefit Car Show

The Caleb’s Prayer Foundation is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization that was formed 11 years ago in memory of Caleb Hoggins, who lost his battle with cancer at 15.

According to information from the foundation, the mission of the foundation is to provide financial assistance to families in Kankakee and Iroquois counties that are coping with the effects of cancer. Since its inception, Caleb’s Prayer Foundation has helped families with over $104,000 for groceries, transportation, utilities, housing costs, insurance, medical bills, and funeral expenses.

The Caleb’s Prayer Foundation’s 15th Annual Benefit Car Show will be on Sunday, May 18th at Phillips Chevrolet in Bradley (1400 Locke Drive, Bourbonnais, IL). Last year there were 156 vehicles at the event and hundreds of spectators admiring them. With the help of sponsors, more than $15,000 dollars was raised for the foundation. Since 20150, the benefit car show has raised $105,535 for the foundation.

Registration for the show is $20 and will begin at 9 a.m. Judging will begin at 11 a.m., with trophies being awarded at 3 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 vehicles in each of 18 classes, as well as Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine, Best of Show, and Caleb’s Memorial award. There will be door prizes, split-the-pot, and raffles. Grilled burgers & hotdogs, chips, and drinks are available for purchase. This event is FREE to the public, so please come by to appreciate the beautiful cars and support a great cause. 100% of the profit goes to local families. In the event of rain, the show will be held on Sunday, June 1st.

Caleb survived a very rare form of leukemia in 2001 but was again diagnosed with cancer 11 years later. He went to Heaven on May 12, 2014. As a freshman at Central High School in Clifton, he dreamed of becoming a chef. Caleb was known for his infectious laughter and his loving and caring personality. He loved building Legos, listening to 80s music, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He is our hero!
