Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) girls Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from April 28-May 3.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Sawyer Bohlig, Miramonte lacrosse: The junior had a combined 10 goals and seven assists in a 17-11 win over Campolindo and a 15-5 rout of Northgate. She began this week with 67 goals and 35 assists on the season, ranking among the NCS leaders, per stats reported to MaxPreps.
Jada Crockett, Sequoia softball: In a 7-5 victory over Half Moon Bay, the senior homered, walked twice and scored two runs. In the pitching circle, she struck 11 as the Ravens extended their winning streak to seven games.
Daniela Hughes, Los Altos track and field: Finished first in three events and second in another at the SCVAL De Anza Division finals. Won the 100 hurdles in 14.32 seconds after clocking a CCS-leading 14.24 in the trials. Also won the triple jump in 37-10 (she leads CCS at 38-10) and ran a leg on the 4×100 relay, which won in a CCS-leading 48.13. Took second in the 200 in 24.68.
Kyleigh Mace, Archbishop Mitty softball: The junior struck out 16 and scattered three hits and two walks to help lift Mitty to a 2-1 victory at home over Sacred Heart Cathedral in a West Catholic Athletic League game. Sacred Heart Cathedral’s run was unearned.
Dominique Neville, Hillsdale lacrosse: The senior had 11 goals and five assists in victories over Castilleja, Priory and Burlingame. She began this week with 58 goals and 13 assists on the season.
Ellie Novitske, Foothill softball: The senior homered, doubled, drove in four runs and scored twice to power Foothill to a 16-6 rout of Livermore in an East Bay Athletic League game. Novitske ended the week batting .547 for the season.
Sophia Ocanas, Gunderson softball: The freshman’s run-scoring double in the bottom of the seventh completed a wild comeback as Gunderson rallied from a five-run deficit to edge Independence 6-5 in a Blossom Valley Athletic League West Valley Division game. Ocanas finished the week batting .500 for the season.
Juliana Pandolfo, Menlo-Atherton softball: The sophomore capped a 3-for-4 game with a double that drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Bears defeated South San Francisco 7-6. Pandolfo finished with two RBIs and scored a run. She entered this week batting .632 (36 for 57).
Andrea Tall, Newark Memorial softball: The senior homered and scored two runs to help the Cougars win on the road over James Logan 8-6 in a battle for first place in the Mission Valley Athletic League. Tall began this week hitting a team-best .609 (39 for 64) with 13 home runs and 34 RBIs.
Mia Wong, Alameda softball: The sophomore went 4 for 4 with two doubles, knocked in four runs and scored two runs as the Hornets rolled to a 10-0 victory over Bishop O’Dowd in West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division play. Alameda began this week 13-8-1 on the season.
