Log a Load for Kids returns to support ENC children’s hospital

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) – We’re gearing up for the Children’s Miracle Network telethon here at WITN, which is now less than a month away, and a big fundraiser for it happened this weekend.

This weekend, people could be seen at Hunters’ Pointe Sporting Clays in Washington participating in the 28th annual Colony Tire & Pinnacle Trailer Sales Sporting Clays Miracle Shoot.

Participants hit the range Saturday, knowing every shot helped make a difference. This two-day event benefited the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center.

The fundraiser is part of Log A Load For Kids, a nationwide giving campaign through which loggers and others contribute to local Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated hospitals to provide medical care to kids in need.

According to organizers, over the years, this event has enabled contributions to the Children’s Miracle Network from $12,000 in 1996 to over $100,000 with over 600 participants in recent years. It has grown to be one of the largest organized shoots in the state and the country.

Participants competed for top shooting prizes, entered raffles for a gun safe, and even got in on a 50-gun drawing.
