City serving up permits for mobile food vendors

Steamboat Springs is opening applications for mobile food vendors to operate in city parks this summer. Those interested in selling food or non-alcoholic beverages from trucks, carts or other mobile setups can apply for a limited number of annual permits.

Licensed vendors will be allowed to serve walk-up customers 7 a.m.-9 p.m. at six city parks: River Creek, Emerald, Ski Town Park, Howelsen, Dr. Rich Weiss (bike access only) and Little Toots (bike access only).

River Creek and Howelsen Parks will host up to two vendors at a time, while the other parks are limited to one vendor each.



Permits are valid May 31-Oct. 31 and cost $270 per year, with the option to renew annually. 

Vending is not allowed during the following events, according to a statement from the city: 



  • Ski Town Park, July – Cowpie Classic Rugby Tournament
  • Ski Town Park & Emerald Park, July – Soccer Tournament
  • Howelsen Park, August – Emerald Mountain Epic
  • Howelsen Park, September – High School Mountain Bike Race
  • Howelsen Park, June 21, July 19 and 31, Aug. 31, Sept. TBA – Free Summer Concert Series
  • Howelsen Park, June 26-29 – SBT GRVL
