CCAS Professor Ranked among Top Researchers in Economics and Finance in the World | GW Today | The George Washington University

Barry R. Chiswick, professor of economics and international affairs at the George Washington University, has been ranked No. 316 in the world and No. 217 in the United States in the 2025 Research.com rankings for economics and finance. The annual rankings evaluate more than 3,000 researcher profiles globally, combining the related disciplines of economics and finance. His 2025 standing marks an improvement from 2024, when he was ranked No. 328 globally and No. 236 in the United States.

Chiswick has authored and edited more than 20 books and scholarly monographs, and more than 200 journal articles and book chapters. His areas of expertise include skill acquisition, labor market adjustment and the economic impact of immigrants and immigration policy. His research has informed public policy and led to appearances before Congress, as well as consulting roles with U.S. government agencies and international organizations, including the World Bank.
