EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin kicked off its largest annual fundraiser.
Bowl For Kids’ Sake is back with community members gathering at Wagner’s Lanes in Eau Claire to take part in the festivities.
The fundraiser helps support youth mentoring across Eau Claire, Chippewa, Dunn, St. Croix and Pierce counties.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin CEO Travis Austad said Bowl For Kids’ Sake had been going on since the 1980’s, and this year, they’re bringing back an old-time classic rivalry: cops vs. firefighters.
“So, we’re bringing financial institutions together, we’re bringing the police department and fire department together. We’re bringing as many entities in our community together for one cause to support youth mentoring,” said Austad.
Austad said all the money raised during Bowl For Kids’ events in each county stays local, helping support Boys & Girls Club programs in that county.
