First responders to host public safety fair, kids’ bike rodeo in Barstow

Barstow law enforcement officials and firefighters are inviting the community to join them for a public safety fair and kids’ bike rodeo this weekend.

The event, hosted by the Barstow Police Department, the Barstow Fire Protection District and the California Highway Patrol’s Barstow Office, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, along Mountain View Street, between Barstow Road and Second Street, organizers said.

Police and fire department demonstrations are planned, along with resources and family fun.

“This year hopes to be extra special, with the CHP’s Barstow Area, joined by the Kiwanis Club, hosting a bicycle rodeo,” according to a CHP statement. “We’re inviting all of our little pals to stop by and learn about bicycle safety, try on and get new helmets, show off their riding skills through our course, and guess what? You might even get the chance to win a brand new bike!”

More information is available by contacting Barstow police Cpl. Austyn Willis at (760) 255-5136.
