
JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) — James Island High School student athletes had a signing day Tuesday.
News 4 spoke with cross country athlete Avery Belk, who is set to compete in track and field for the Furman University Paladins.
“They’re academics honestly, they’re so good, such a beautiful campus, so many benefits, and their distance program, oh my goodness,” Belk said. “Coach Rita and Coach Lang are just some of the nicest, sweetest people that I’ve talked to and they’ve made the experience really amazing for me and it’s just overall such a good school and I’m really excited to be able to attend.”

Three football players were set to commit to Limestone University in Gaffney prior to the school’s closure being announced.
