Eugene 4J offers free summer program to prepare kids for kindergarten

For parents with kids about to start kindergarten, Eugene School District 4J is providing a free summer program for incoming students.

Kids In Transition to School (KITS) Is a three-hour program at Howard and Chavez Elementary.

Kids will be able to make friends while developing their early reading and counting skills.

Parents will also have access to resources that will help reduce parenting stress and get info on how to connect with their kids’ school.

It runs from June 30 to August 7.

Also, on May 16, 4J is hosting a kindergarten welcome event at El Camino Del Rio Elementary for parents, guardians and kids to learn about the year ahead and what to expect when kindergarten starts in the fall.
