
CANTON – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Louisville Police Department and the Veterans Service Commission of Stark County, will hold a food drive starting Thursday and continuing through May for veterans at the Honor Home in Canton.
The Honor Home offers transitional housing to veterans on their journey to permanent housing. Assistance is available to homeless women veterans and their children as well as single male veterans.
Drop off non-perishable food items at any of these locations during open hours:
- Stark County Sheriff’s Office, 4500 Atlantic Blvd., Canton; open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Stark County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Training Center, 143 First St. SE, Massillon; open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Veterans Service Commission of Stark County, 2955 Wise Ave. NW, Plain Township; open 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Louisville Police Department, 1150 W. Main St., Louisville; open 24 hours a day, seven days a week
The following non-perishable food items are needed:
- Boxed food, including pasta, rice, cereal, pancake mix, oatmeal.
- Canned items, such as pasta sauce, vegetables, fruit, soup, tuna.
- Seasoning packages for tacos, chili, stew.
- Various condiments, including mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard. Also peanut butter.
- Boxed dessert mixes for brownies, cookies, cakes.
- Snacks, including granola/cereal bars, crackers, chips, pretzels.
- Powdered drink mixes in individual sizes.
- Kid-friendly nonperishable foods.
