Five things: Cops and Teens Basketball, car show, late night skate, Lonestar concert

Looking to try something new this week?

Here’s five things going on in Marion:

1. Cops and Teens Basketball Tournament

When: 5 p.m. Monday, April 28

Where: The Rec Center, 240 W. Church St., Marion

What: Law enforcement and teens grades nine-12 face off in the first-ever Cops and Teens Basketball Tournament. Enjoy basketball games, music and pizza. Players must have registered by April 26.

Cost: Free

2. Cinco De Mayo Late Skate

When: 6 p.m. Friday, May 2

Where: Zoomers Skate Club, 1683 Marion Mt. Gilead Road, Marion

What: Skate into the night at this Cinco De Mayo Late Skate at Zoomers Skate Club. Admission includes a hotdog, chips and a small drink.

Cost: $20

3. Lonestar concert

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2

Where: Marion Palace Theatre, 276 W. Center St., Marion

What: Lonestar, a country music band remembered for chart-toppers like “Amazed” is performing at the Marion Palace Friday. Tickets can be purchased online on the Marion Palace website.

Cost: $49-$69

4. Car Show

When: 10 a.m. (Registration begins at 9 a.m.) Saturday, May 3

Where: Pleasant High School Event Parking Lot, 1113 Owens Road W., Marion

What: Check out cars both modern and classic at the second annual Pleasant Music Boosters Car Show. An awards ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. with prizes in multiple categories. Food trucks, raffle and door prizes will be available. Proceeds go toward supporting Pleasant music programs.

Cost: $10 per car

5. Ethan Timm Live

When: 7 p.m. Saturday, May 3

Where: Kin & Kilt, 130 S. Prospect St., Marion

What: Ethan Timm will be performing at Kin & Kilt on Saturday. Timm’s music is heavily influenced by rock and roll bands and features soulful vocals and blues-influenced guitar work. He’ll be performing some familiar tunes alongside a few originals.
