WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The annual Food Truck Rodeo put together by the Parks Conservancy of New Hanover County took place at Ogden Park with proceeds going to a pump track at Northern Regional Park.
This year, the event hosted nearly 25 trucks from all over North Carolina working together to raise money for the same cause.
“My favorite part is seeing people out here enjoying themselves. They bring their families, they have cookouts, and sitting on their blankets and things like that. It makes it fun,” said New Hanover Parks and Gardens Program Manager, Tanya Gurganious.
Each year the rodeo is held, the money raised goes toward an addition to the park.’
“The pump track’s gonna be a nice asphalt pump track, which will accommodate any type of bicycle, scooter, even a wheelchair can get out there which is kind of our concept because we wanna do an all wheels you know purposeful track that anyone can go on, not just your common cyclist…if you don’t know what a pump track is, it’s basically a bunch of rollers and some jumps that you use your body to pump through it,” said Parks Conservancy of New Hanover County Board Member, Dave Ellegood.
This year’s rodeo also featured live music by Bobb Funk while allowing community members to indulge in some local eats, including Hot Diggity Dog by Tasty Tay.
“We are from Greensborro NC, great drive, great people, great atmosphere out here today excited they asked us to come,” said owner, Tayana Hall.
A date has not been announced as to when the pump track will be completed, but the Parks Conservancy group of New Hanover County is still accepting donations.
