LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The YMCA of Southern Nevada celebrated its annual Healthy Kids Day at the Durango Hills YMCA on Saturday, offering a day of fun-filled activities aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles for children and families.
The free event, open to the public, featured a variety of family-friendly activities designed to encourage a healthy start to the summer season.
A key focus of the event was water safety, with the YMCA launching registration for its Safety Around Water (SAW) program.
This initiative, offered at no cost to local youth, teaches a specific sequence of skills to ensure children have a safe and enjoyable experience in aquatic environments.
Sponsored nationally by Peanuts, Healthy Kids Day aims to prepare Las Vegas families for a safe, healthy, and fun summer.
One of the event’s highlights was early access to the YMCA’s outdoor water park, allowing families to enjoy summer fun before the park officially opens for the season.
The day also included engaging water safety demonstrations to help parents and children learn essential tips for staying safe in and around water.
“It’s crucial for kids to stay active during the summer, both physically and mentally,” said Shene Tracy, Senior Experience Director for the YMCA of Southern Nevada. “At the Y, we’re dedicated to providing families with the resources they need to build healthy habits year-round. Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community event designed to encourage families to explore all the amazing summer activities the Y has to offer.”
The event also featured a variety of community vendors, making it a celebration for the whole family.
