The latest rankings by the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association has the United South Central Rebels softball team occupying the No. 1 spot in Class A for the state of Minnesota.
USC remained unbeaten with an 8-0 record after defeating Cleveland 11-0 in five innings on Tuesday, April 22.
The visiting Rebels scored three runs in the first inning, two more in the second inning before adding on six more in the third inning to reach their total of 11 runs.
Meanwhile, USC’s ace pitcher, Mariah Anderson, allowed only two base runners during the contest. Cleveland had one hit and the other runner reached on an error.
Anderson recorded 14 strikeouts and did not walk a batter.
USC had 10 hits and were led by Anderson, Olivia Bungum and Hannah Niebuhr who each had two hits. Taylor Schroeder had a double for the Rebels.
Lilly Lutteke and Alivia Bruegger each drove in two runs for USC. The Rebels stole five bases during the game.
USC 15, Triton 0
United South Central softball pitcher Mariah Anderson threw another perfect game as the USC Rebels shut out the Triton Cobras 15 to 0 on Monday, April 21.
Anderson was not only perfect on the mound, she was also perfect at the plate, going 5-for-5 batting with one of five hits being a double.
Alivia Bruegger was 2-for-4 at the plate and both her hits were home runs.
Ivy O’Rourke was 3-for-5 at the plate and two of her three hits were doubles. Lilly Lutteke had one hit at two at bats, but it was also a double.
Olivia Bungum, Taylor Schroeder, Brylee Neubauer, Hannah Niebuhr and Carissa Hanson all had singles.
The Rebels scored two runs in the first inning, five each in the second and third innings and three more in the fifth inning. USC stranded eight runners on base.
Anderson pitched all five innings and gave up no hits or runs. She walked one batter and struck out 12.
Ally Knutson pitched all five innings for the Cobras and gave up 16 hits, 15 runs (seven of them earned), had four walks and struck out three Rebel batters.
