Police say brake-issue caused driverless semi to roll, crash into Ruby’s food truck

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KLTV) – Nacogdoches police have named a brake-issue as a factor in a semi’s crash into a Ruby’s Mexican Restaurant food truck.

According to Nacogdoches Police Seargeant Joesph Pitts, the semi-truck was parked in a lot on the 2500 block of South Street when it experienced an “issue with the brakes,” causing it to roll across the road and crash into the restaurant truck and trailer.

Three restaurant staff members and one customer were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and were later released.

The restaurant is based in Tyler but travels to other East Texas cities in the food truck. Although the food truck was a total loss, the restaurant said on Facebook they eventually plan to return to Nacogdoches after they recover.
