MADISON, Ala. (WAFF) – Some local kids in Madison finished a months-long project on Saturday.
They raised a pig and showed them off to experts during the Annual 4-H Pig Squeal Show and Auction in Madison Saturday morning.
Students from across North Alabama met to show off their pigs and check out the competition.
“There’s two parts for the show. One is showmanship, one is market,” 11th grader Jacie Dunn said.
“For the showmanship, all the kids just walk and pace around, just to show how well they trained them, and for the market, the judge will look at the pig and determine how much muscle weight the pig has and stuff like that.”
Dunn said she trained her pig by taking it on walks outside every day and helping it get used to strangers and new places.
