Texas Tough Kids: Reliving Our Crazy Childhood Injuries And Adventures

It’s a good thing that Texas kids are tough!

Texas Tough Kids

We asked a very simple question, “How did you injure yourself as a kid?” and the result was an avalanche!  I guess we all do some pretty dumb stuff growing up until we learn better. We have falls, scrapes, electrocutions and so much more. In case you’re wondering, probably the most common thing with boys is “a bicycle ramp” related injury (skateboarding incidents came in strong too!).

Texas-Sized Injuries

We had a hundred or so response to this question, but due to circumstances beyond our control we just have a couple of humdingers to share with you. I’m certain you will both cringe and feel a little nostalgic about these offerings. There’s something about these antics that feel very familiar, because these kids were doing the same things we were all doing, it may have just went a little wrong for them!

One VERY Graphic Story

I’ll offer one of my own for you. When I was a kid my dad built me an amazing custom bike out of spare pieces. He then spray painted the thing gold, and it was pretty much the best bike a kid could ever have, except it lacked a chain guard. My pants were first pulled into the gears, followed by the heal of my foot. A neighbor had to come cut the bloody stump of my heel out of the gears with a bolt cutter. Fortunately it was hanging on by a piece of skin until I got shots inside the wound and the whole mess sewn back on. Good times, right?
