Community Harvest Food Bank’s annual ‘Canstruction’ returns to Glenbrook Square Mall

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Community Harvest Food Bank’s annual ‘Canstruction’ has returned to Glenbrook Square Mall.

‘Canstruction’ is a competition held by Community Harvest Food Bank where local schools build structures from cans.

Community members are then able to vote on the favorite can structures through a donation of at least $1. $1 is equal to one vote.

On Friday, April 25, students from six local schools participated in Canstruction’s ‘Build Day’.

The can structures are now on display at Glenbrook Square Mall through ‘Teardown Day’ on Sunday, May 4.

The theme for this year’s Canstruction is “Storytime”.

The six local schools participating in ‘Canstruction are Central Noble Jr./Sr. High School, Concordia Lutheran High School, Leo Jr./Sr. High School, Northrop High School, North Side High School, and South Adams Middle School.

Community Harvest Food Bank says all proceeds will benefit hunger relief and food insecurity.

Community Harvest Food Bank says the school with the most votes will receive the “Peoples’ Choice Award” and a check for $1,000. In addition, awards will be given for best meal, best structural integrity, best use of labels, most cans used, and best original design.

To vote in Canstruction, visit Glenbrook Square Mall and scan a QR Code on-site or visit Community Harvest Food Bank’s Facebook page and vote at https://www.communityharvest.org/canstruction-2025-is-here/.
