YMCA of Wichita Falls hosting free “Healthy Kids Day” for the public

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The YMCA of Wichita Falls, along with other YMCAs across the country, is hosting its “Healthy Kids Day” on Saturday, April 26, at the Bill Bartley Family YMCA from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free to the public.

The day aims to create healthy habits while also connecting with the community. Troy Griggs, Executive Director for the YMCA of Wichita Falls, said there will be activities like soccer, rock wall climbing and much more that kids and families can enjoy.

“We’re gonna have some bounce houses for the kiddos. [There will] be face painting. We’re also going to have some activities at our Fain soccer complex. That’s where we have all the sports and family activities, so we have like relay races, and when I tell you it’s gonna be a hit, it’s a hit,” Griggs said.

Griggs has been involved with the organization for several years and said he loves events like this because of the bond they can create between the YMCA and the community.

“We want them to be able to come to our facility. To be able to not only just have that workout, but to also build a connection that’s gonna be a lifelong relationship. You will always have a family here. We also want to uplift people and use our Christian principles to be able to pour life back into the community for sure,” Griggs said.

Griggs went on to say that the YMCA is a place for everyone and encourages the public to come out on April 26.

“With everything that goes on in the world, we want to be able to show that there is a place that’s for you, that’s for everyone, for all. and we just want to put a little bit of heaven on earth for everybody in Wichita Falls,” Griggs said.
