Just like Carrie Bradshaw, here at British Vogue we like to think of shopping as our cardio. Which is why the online version – as fantastic as it is – doesn’t always cut it. And there’s one IRL destination that fashion and beauty insiders are loving right now.
Since its October 2022 launch, Battersea Power Station has become our go-to for a day of retail therapy and it’s easy to see why. Not only is it easily accessible via pretty much every kind of public transport, it’s even got its own Zone 1 Underground station and Uber Boat by Thames Clippers pier. With the famous Grade II*-listed architecture of the Power Station itself as the backdrop, there’s just something that feels so essentially London about being in this part of the city on the Thames.

Then there’s the huge selection of shops – with more than 150 to choose from. While some London streets might be the best for say, independent boutiques, or the one you turn to for designer labels, Battersea Power Station has them all. Whether you want to shop in the A-list’s new favourite British store, Me + Em (both Leighton Meester and Daisy Edgar-Jones have been spotted in the brand recently), or want to stock up on California cool-girl label Reformation, hit up Lululemon for a new pair of its cult Align leggings or check out the suede jackets at Massimo Dutti, you’re completely spoilt for choice with the fashion offering. Once you throw in the beauty too – which includes Space NK and Boots Beauty (the brand’s only beauty concept store in the country) – you might never be tempted to shop online again. After all, where else can you pick up a summer wedding guest outfit, travel essentials for your next trip, and workout wear in one spot?
