Smorgasburg Opens Another Location, This Time in a Brooklyn Nightclub

A mega-popular New York food fair is teaming up with a Brooklyn EDM venue for a new dining collaboration. Smorgasburg and the Brooklyn Mirage are opening The Campsite by Smorgasburg in East Williamsburg at 140 Stewart Avenue, near Meserole Street, starting Thursday, May 1.

Nightclubs aren’t necessarily known for creative food, but this collaboration indicates that Brooklyn Mirage is adding another point of attraction during a time when people aren’t buying as much alcohol during nights out, a factor in other clubs calling it quits.

The team-up is Smorgasburg’s first foray into a club setting, notes the release, with a bar sponsored by Heineken and a rotation of Smorgasburg vendors serving food before, during, and after events through the late night. The first lineup includes Burger Supreme; Lebanese restaurant Hen House, American fast-food spot Home Frite, pan-Asian soft serve mini-chain Soft Swerve, and Jamaican beef patty stand Tosh’s Patties. It’ll rotate out restaurants two other times later this year.

People place orders at individual vendors and eat in the communal dining area. “It is called the Campsite because of the atmosphere the space is creating with camp-like style shared seating, and having all the vendors in one place,” says a rep.

There’s also the Bodega, a walk-in store where people can buy merch as well as candy and other goods.

The Campsite collaboration is part of the Brooklyn Mirage’s 10th-year anniversary. The dining portion will only be available to people attending events there, as well as its host site Avant Gardner’s other venues at the address: the Kings Hall and the Great Hall.

Smorgasburg started in 2011 in Brooklyn and has since expanded with additional New York City locations and a market in Los Angeles. It’s 15th season started earlier this month.

The timing seems right, as Brooklyn Mirage could use some more wholesome press. Brooklyn Mirage first opened in East Williamsburg on Scott Avenue in 2015, during which it was mired in issues. It relocated to its current address with Avant Gardner in 2016. In 2023, two people mysteriously died outside after leaving the club — the venue remained open.
