Golden Bears top Creek for win 20th victory
NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen softball team has once again reached the 20-win mark.
The Golden Bears reached the mark by virtue of their 9-1 win over visiting Indian Creek on Wednesday night. It was their fourth-straight victory.
Riley Bruce had a double and a single, Addie Smith had a double, two singles and two RBIs, Mattie Carney had a double, single and an RBI, Danica Holden had two hits and two RBIs and Maddie Murray doubled.
Carney had another strong outing in the circle, striking out 11 without issuing a walk in going the distance.
For Creek, Rylee Sadler had a double and an RBI.
The Golden Bears (20-8) take on Harrison Central Friday to close the regular season, while Creek (6-10) travels to Edison today.
The teams came together to remember Creek student Bradyn White, who tragically died earlier this month.
A collection was taken up prior to the game for the White family prior to the game.
Red Riders top Huskies
CADIZ — The Weir High softball team’s win streak has grown to 11.
The Red Riders extended their strong streak wuth a 7-3 win over Harrison Central on the road on Wednesday, which ended what had been a six-game win streak by the Huskies.
Weir got three hits and an RBI from Rayna Hoover, while Eliza Utt tripled and had an RBI, Bella Weber doubled, Jaidyn Kelly doubled and drove in two runs, and Zoe Spencer also plated two runs.
Utt went the distance in the circle, striking out four wihtout issuing a walk.
For the Huskies, Olivia Tonkovich tripled and Kara Blackburn, Jaylin Ward and Bailey Smith each had an RBI.
Weir High takes on Big Red tonight at Edison, while the Huskies travel to Bellaire today.
Edison gets big win in extras
MARTINS FERRY — The Edison softball team went on the road to a strong Martins Ferry team and handed the Purple Riders just their second loss of the season with a 7-6 win in 10 innings.
Alli Shrieve went five for five with a double, four singles and four RBIs, while Sophia Henderson had two doubles and two RBIs and Leighanne Anderson drove in a run, while Mady Cornell had three hits.
Anderson went all 10 innings in the circle, striking out three batters.
The Wildcats, now 11-9, host Indian Creek today.

Creek gets big road win
GNADENHUTTEN — The Indian Creek baseball team went on the road to Indian Valley on Wednesday and picked up an impressive 2-0 victory over the Braves.
Creek, which won for thr 11th time in 12 outings, got an RBI each from Sylus Hyde and Sal Barcalow.
Barcalow was the winning pitcher with three punchouts in five innings, while Max Lane and Gavin Pownall came on to help close out the shutout.
Creek takes on St. Clairsville Saturday at Edison in the OVAC Class 4A championship game.
Red Knights roll past United
TORONTO — The Toronto baseball team picked up another run rule win on Wednesday, topping visiting United by a 10-0 count in five innings at the KBC.
Heath Thomas had two singles, a double and an RBI, Chase Heckathorn had two singles and an RBI, Russ Dickinson had a double, single and two RBIs, Michael Henry had a hit and an RBI, Cole Barcus had two hits and an RBI and Gunnar Newbold had a hit and an RBI.
On the mound, Drake Bouscher struck out five and did not walk a batter in firing the shutout.
The now 12-2 Red Knights play host to Buckeye Local today.
Red Riders down Beaver
WEIRTON — The Weir High baseball team got back in the win column with a 12-8 victory over visiting Beaver Local on Wednesday.
The Red Riders, now 7-11, got a big day at the plate from Lucas McAllister as the senior blasted a homer and doubled while driving in four runs.
Niko Glass and Nick DiMatteis each had two RBIs, while Glass and Aleks Zanieski each had a double.
Liam Williamson fired the first four winnings, while McAllister struck out five in three innings of releif work.
The Red Riders are at Edison today.
Madonna wins big
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Madonna baseball team pushed its win streak to a dozen with a 10-0 win in five innings at East Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Blue Dons (15-2) got a double and single each from Jacob Lazear and Koleton Grishkevich, while Grishkevich and David Connors each drove in two runs. Reno Fuscardo also doubled.
Matt Geer tossed four innings of one-hit ball, striking out four without walking a batter. Connors struck out the side in the fifth.
Madonna takes on Cameron Friday night at Edison in the OVAC Class A title game.
“”We played pretty solid ball today and put a good bit of hits together. Mat Geer was very solid for us on the mound, putting us in a great spot to win,” Madonna head coach TJ Miller said. “The boys are buying in at the plate, confident, and continuing to take steps in the right direction. The boys are locked in for the OVAC championship on Friday, and they can’t wait to go out and defend their title. Our staff is very blessed to coach this group, and we will continue working hard towards the ultimate goal.”
Edison wins another
RICHMOND — The Edison baseball team rolled to a 10-0 win over visiting Heartland Christian on Wednesday at home.
Chase Freeman had a double and three RBIs, while Bryce Rogers had a double and a single and Kyle Long drove in two runs.
Cash Meadows fired five innings of one-hit ball, striking out five and walking one.
Edison, now 10-3, hosts Weir High today.
Buckeye Local tops Bellaire
CONNORVILLE – Kaleb Stang went the distance on the mound with 11 strikeouts and two walks as the Panthers blanked the visiting Big Reds, 5-0. He also singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Buckeye Local visitis Toronto tonight.
