SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Memorial Health and the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia teamed up for the “We Show Up For Our Communities” week of volunteerism.
Volunteers came together from Memorial Health to put together 70,000 meals for the hospital’s 70th anniversary.
Each year for this annual event, the hospital chooses a different organization to help give back to the community.
This year they chose the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.
Memorial Health leaders said there is no better way to celebrate 70 years.
“So what better way to celebrate our 70th anniversary than giving back to the community. And so we presented a check today for $15,000 out of our community benefit fund,” said Memorial Health CEO, Brad Talbert.

“They’re preparing the meals for our kids café program. You know we feed over 4,000 children every afternoon along with helping them with their homework and providing tutoring. So by having these volunteers here it allows us to leverage what we do to be able to feed even more people in our community,” said Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia Executive Director, Mary Jane Crouch.
All 70,000 thousand meals will help feed kids around our area in their after-school program.
