GREAT KIDS: East Lyme kid completes outdoor classroom for local museum

EAST LYME, CT. (WFSB) – We are jumping into a time machine and bringing you back to frigid February!

That’s when our crews visited the Brookside Farm Museum in East Lyme, where Rowan Wilson undertook an ambitious project.

It was for eagle scouts and the goal was to create an outdoor classroom.

What’s really cool is that local teachers or anyone else can now come and spread some knowledge in the absolutely beautiful setting.

The benches that he created are spectacular and surprisingly comfortable too.

But make no mistake, the absolute belle of the ball is the movable blackboard. It is double sided and has a set of wheels.

Wilson admitted that it took a lot of hard work, but he says that the entire project was worth every drop of sweat and serves as a true reminder of everything scouting is supposed to be about: rising above challenges and making a difference!

“It can take a decent amount of time but if you want to put the work in and you have the time to do it and you want to help people i think its a great opportunity,” he said.

His project is just the beginning, as another local kid is about to start his mission by building a dead hedge fence out of local twigs and branches.
