Frog Frolic Festival Returns To Redding With Classic Car Show Debut

REDDING, CT — The Mark Twain Library will host its 28th annual Frog Frolic Family Festival on Saturday, May 3, at the Redding Community Center, bringing together families for a day of music, food, games and new attractions, including a classic car show.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine, is free to attend. Attendees may purchase food from local trucks and tickets for crafts and games on site.

This year’s Frolic continues the tradition of community celebration inspired by Mark Twain’s short story “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County,” which helped launch the author’s career. The frog-themed festival is considered a major fundraiser for the Mark Twain Library, an association library that relies on donations and events like the Frolic to raise $400,000 annually.

Last year’s festival drew more than 2,000 participants. This year’s lineup includes bounce houses, face painting, local band performances, and a new addition: a classic car show.

Some of the cars scheduled to be on exhibit include a 1975 canary yellow Mercedes 450 SL, a Mercedes AMG GTS, a 1977 Porsche 911 Targa and a 2000 Acura NSX. Calling it the Concours d’Grenouille, festival coordinators have attracted at least a dozen one-of-a-kind vintage cars to exhibit.

The Redding Community Center is located at 37 Lonetown Road, behind Redding Elementary School. More information is available online here or by calling 203-938-2545.
