Here’s a glance at Milwaukee’s Top 25 Restaurants selected by Rachel Bernhard
For the first time in five years, the Journal Sentinel presents Milwaukee’s Top 25 Restaurants, this year from new dining critic Rachel Bernhard.
Milwaukee’s 3rd St. Market Hall is one of the best food halls in the nation, according to USA TODAY’s 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards.
The hall, 275 W. Wisconsin Ave., ranked second on the list of 10 winners, just below top vote-getter Mother Road Market in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
USA TODAY offered this glowing review:
“Located in the heart of Milwaukee, 3rd Street Market Hall offers a wide array of culinary delights featuring an eclectic mix of local vendors and international flavors. Savor everything from Wisconsin-style local cheese specialties to gourmet tacos, burgers, delectable baked goods, and even a tequila and bourbon bar. With so many food options under one roof, this lively, community-centric spacious market also offers ample seating.”
Every week, USA TODAY 10BEST invites a panel of industry experts to nominate their favorite points of interest and attractions across a range of categories. 10BEST editors vet the nominations and select the final nominees that are voted on by the public to determine the final list.
Restaurateur Omar Shaikh opened 3rd St. Market Hall in 2022, along with real estate developers Joshua Krsnak and Tony Janowiec. It revitalized the building that was once home to the Grand Avenue Mall, and is currently home to more than 20 food and drink vendors, a self-serve tap beer wall, a Topgolf Swing Suite, a tequila and bourbon bar, and more.
Vendors like burgers-and-custard joint Dairyland and Mid-Way Bakery have been there since the food hall opened. Two new vendors, Korean restaurant In-Yun and Creta Mediterranean Grill, are slated to open by the end of April.
The food hall has seen tremendous success since opening, expanding to open an annex at American Family Field in 2024.
When Crossroads Collective shuts its doors on the east side on May 8, 3rd St. Market Hall will be the last dedicated food hall in Milwaukee. Near west side food hall North Ave. Market closed in September 2024.
3rd St. Market Hall is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
