
SAN ANTONIO – If you are a parent or a teacher, there is a new way to get important information on a number of topics you can talk to your kids about.
It is all at your fingertips through the use of your smartphone. It is part of a Safe Schools Institute of Houston statewide campaign that has made its way to San Antonio.
If you have a smartphone, just text 901-4-safety, Or 901-472-3389 and it will lead you to a page with a list of topics.
The topics include things like human trafficking, cyber and gaming safety. Other serious topics include domestic, child and substance abuse, along with fentanyl poisoning. The safe text feature gives critical information and resources straight to your smart phone for parents or teachers to help them talk to kids.
Addie Carlson is a Statewide Education Specialist who gives presentations to groups all over Texas.
She says, “Our kids are facing all kinds of dangers out there when you think about the internet, substance abuse, fentanyl, and it’s so important for us to have this education at our fingertips to empower us and educate us on how we can keep ourselves and our kiddos safe.”
The ultimate goal of this safe text feature is to get parents or teachers to download the materials from their smartphones and ultimately talk to kids about these topics in a safe environment.
