ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Detainees at the St. Louis Criminal Justice Center are getting a new tool to help them get back to work upon release.
Eight people awaiting trial graduated on Monday from the ServSafe certification program. The certificate they earned is required for most jobs in the culinary arts and focuses on safe practices in food preparation.
Facility administrators hope the training will help the detainees find jobs and start a successful career when they re-enter society. The certificate is recognized by the National Restaurant Association for a period of five years.
