ShopRite’s 2025 Feeding Our Neighbors Campaign raised $75,770 for Catholic Charities’ Food Pantries in the Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY- At Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster’s recent Celebration of Charity event, representatives of ShopRite Supermarket presented a super-sized check for $75,770. The check represented ShopRite’s 11th annual Feeding Our Neighbors donation which supports the many food pantries throughout the Hudson Valley which are part of the network of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York.

Feeding Our Neighbors is a two-week, in store campaign hosted by ShopRite that raises funds and collects food to support Catholic Charities’ food pantries, soup kitchens, and other programs that fight hunger in the Hudson Valley. Since joining Catholic Charities’ annual Feeding Our Neighbors initiative in 2014, ShopRite Supermarkets and its guests have donated more than $868,000, and made generous donations of non-perishable food items, to support Catholic Charities’ efforts to address food insecurity in the communities it serves. The monetary donation reflects the equivalent of more than 3,475,000 meals during the 11 years of participation in the annual food drive and fundraiser. ShopRite’s donation stays local to help Catholic Charities address food insecurity through its many programs in the region.

ShopRite employees were on hand at Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster’s 2025 Celebration of Charity dinner, hosted at The Epicenter at Resorts World Catskills in Monticello, for the ceremonial check presentation made by Vice President of Operations Mike Schoendorf to Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster’s Board Chair Thomas Strahle and CEO Shannon Kelly.

ShopRite’s 26 stores in the Hudson Valley participated in the annual campaign to raise funds to support Catholic Charities’ emergency food distribution programs in the counties of Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Ulster, Sullivan, and Westchester. The campaign, which ran for two weeks in March, raised funds through cash donations at check-out. The 2025 campaign monetary donation was the equivalent of approximately 303,000 meals.

“ShopRite Supermarkets is a tremendous community partner,” said Catholic Charities CEO, Shannon Kelly. “A spirit of giving and commitment to community is embraced at all levels of the organization. Catholic Charities is blessed to be one of the many organizations that benefits from their incredible generosity,” added Kelly. “They are making a positive difference for our neighbors in need.”

The donation was shared between different Catholic Charities agencies in each of the Hudson Valley counties where ShopRite stores are located.  Leading the supermarket’s Feeding Our Neighbors fundraising efforts in Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster were the Chester store raising $8,725, the

Monticello location raising $3,347, and the New Paltz store bringing in $1,840. More than $32,200 was received to support Catholic Charities’ food insecurity efforts in Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties.

“ShopRite Supermarkets’ store associates and customers firmly believe in supporting local organizations, like Catholic Charities, that provide a helping hand to our neighbors when they’re going through difficult times,” said Mike Schoendorf, Vice President of Operations for ShopRite Supermarkets. “It’s important to us that we give where our associates live and work so that we can work together to fight hunger and food insecurity close to home.”

While the Feeding Our Neighbors campaign happens just two weeks each year, the need to feed the hungry lasts all year long.
