BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Becoming only the second back-to-back champion in Patriot League history and seeing a Midshipman earn the individual medal for the second consecutive year, the Navy women’s golf team closed out its second-straight league title with a 38-stroke victory at the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Golf Championship on Sunday afternoon at Saucon Valley Country Club’s Grace Course.
Ending the tournament with a 13-over par 301 on Sunday, the Midshipmen wrapped up a weekend score of 21-over par 885 (292-292-301) to take home its third Patriot League in a five-year span and finish 38 strokes ahead of second-place Boston University. The rounds of 292 on Friday and Saturday match the program’s team-low round at a Patriot League Championship, while the 21-over par 885 was the Mids’ best Patriot League Championship score in program history (in relation to par).
Carding a 1-over par 73 on Sunday, sophomore Emma Tang held onto her spot atop the leaderboard with an even-par 216 (73-70-73) weekend to earn individual medalist honors and become the second-straight Navy golfer to finish as the league’s individual champion following Stephanie Lee’s individual title last April.
Duplicating her finish from last season, junior Sue Lee once claimed league runner-up for the second-straight year, sharing the honor with freshman teammate Megan Kirkpatrick at 4-over par 220. Earning all-league first team distinction, Lee wrapped up Sunday with a 1-over par 73 to finish with rounds of 75-72-73 while Kirkpatrick’s even-par 72 on the final day gave her rounds of 72-76-72.
Also finding her way into the top-10, sophomore Keira Howard placed 10th overall at 17-over par 233 (75-74-84), while senior captain Bridget Hoang tied for 11th place at 18-over par 234 (75-76-83), with both Howard and Hoang securing selections to the All-Patriot League Second Team.
Rounding out the Navy lineup, freshman Vivian Cressman closed out the weekend at 33-over par 249 (72-86-91), tying for 24th.
“All of the team’s hard work this season paid off this week,” said Head coach Kylee Baker. “They were steady from the start and kept the momentum going all weekend! The depth of our team showed and I couldn’t be more proud of every single golfer. We had impressive rounds from each one and this truly was a full team effort. We are looking forward to NCAA Regionals and showing our talent at the national level.”
Tang was also named the 2025 Patriot League Golfer of the Year while Kirkpatrick earned the league’s Rookie-of-the-Year honors, becoming the first Navy golfers in program history to win their respective awards. Baker completed the awards sweep, earning her second-straight Patriot League Coach of the Year accolade.
Additionally, the weekend saw Tang and Lee become the fourth and fifth golfers in program history to earn First-Team All-Patriot League honors twice in their careers.
Navy will now head to NCAA Regional play on May 5-7 at one of six regional sites. The Mids find out their regional destination on Wednesday, April 23 when the NCAA Women’s Selection Show airs at 1 p.m. on the GOLF Channel.
