Letters: Teach kids about keeping environment clean early

Litter cleanup is needed, but littering needs to be nipped in the bud. It should begin in preschool along with the ABCs.

Enlightening children about their responsibility and respect for the ground we walk on and drive through gives them some control over their environment. It will take years of highlighting. If this ethic is reinforced throughout their school life, it may become ingrained.

On the large scale, most of us feel helpless. On this scale, we can all make a difference.
