Brooke pulls away from Potters, win 3rd straight
WEIRTON — The Brooke baseball team made it three-in-a-row with a 12-1 victory over East Liverpool Friday at Bowman Field.
The Bruins entered the bottom of the sixth with a 4-1 lead and busted things open with eight runs to enact the run rule.
The win improved the Bruins to 12-7 on the season going into a weekend doubleheader with Martins Ferry.
Zac O’Mery had a double, two singles and two RBIs and Parker McMahon, Aiden Provenzano and Henry Anderson each had two RBIs for Brooke.
Anderson struck out seven in three innings of work while Blaine Beatty fired the last three innings.
Edison tops the Panthers
CONNORVILLE — The Edison baseball team made it a season sweep of Buckeye Local on Friday with an 18-5 run rule victory at Mazeroski Field on Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats, now 8-2, plated eight runs in the top of the fifth to bring the run rule into play and end things early.
Chase Freeman had two doubles and drove in three runs, while JD Henderson was 4 for 4 with four RBIs, Kyle Long had a double, single and two RBIs, Cole Pittman had a double, single and an RBI and Kaiden Russell drove in a pair of runs.
Five different Wildcats pitched in the game, combining to strike out nine.
For the Panthers, Wyatt Luyster and Hadyn Boyce each drove in two runs, while Mason Griffin plated one.
Edison will play in the OVAC semis on Monday before traveling to Big Red on Tuesday, while the Panthers were scheduled to host East Liverpool on Saturday.
Red Riders win big
RAVNSWOOD — The Weir High baseball team went south to Ravenswood and came back with a win on Friday, 14-4.
The Red Riders, now 6-9, took an early lead and broke things open in the second with seven runs.
Nico Glass had two doubles and two RBIs, while Caiden Braswell had two hits and an RBI, Lucas McAllister had a double and two RBIs, Teddy Glyptis and Colson Kimmel each doubled in a run and Liam Williamson had two hits.
Aleks Zanieski struck out seven in the first three innings and Braswell struck out six in the final three innings of relief.
Weir was scheduled to play Capital on Saturday before going to Brooke on Tuesday.

Weir wins two more in Tennessee
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — The Weir High softball team made it four wins on their trip to the Volunteer State, winning two more times on Friday.
The Red Riders, now 16-4, topped Greeneville (Tenn.) 6-4 in a close game then pulled away from Struthers (Ohio), 16-9.
In the first game, Eliza Utt blasted a two-run homer and Jaidyn Kelly had a two-run double and a sin gle for a multi-hit day. Gigi Paladina also doubled.
Utt, who threw a total of nine scoreless innings on the day, struck out seven and did not walk a batter in the first game.
In the second game, she struck out five more before giving way to Bella Weber, who struck out six in five innings.
Rayna Hoover blasted a solo homer, Brayley Lash doubled, singled and plated a run, Zoe Spencer drove in three runs and Loganne Barton tallied a double, single and an RBI.
Weir was slated to play two more games on Saturday before returning home for the city championship against Madonna on Monday.
Bears win two to end trip
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Oak Glen softball team’s trip to the beach concluded Friday with two more wins.
The Golden Bears out-slugged Millville (N.J.) 13-10 t and then defeated Webster Schroeder (N.Y.) 15-0 in the finale of the finale of the trip.
In the first game, the Golden Bears plated the final seven runs to surge ahead for the win.
Marleah Lough had a triple, double and two RBIs, while Danica Holden drove in four runs with a double and a triple, Addie Smith plated three with a three-hit day, inlcuding a double, and Mikalyn Blach drove in two runs while Riley Bruce doubled and singled with an RBI.
Maddie Murray struck out six batters in 3 1/3 innings, and Holden struck out three in firing the final three innings. Both players passed 100 career strikeouts.
In the second game, Holden again had a triple and a double with two RBIs, while Murray drove in two runs and had two hits and Alex Watkins doubled and had an RBI.
Holden fired 13 strikeouts in a complete game, one-hit shutout.
The Bears finish the trip 5-2 and are 19-8 overall going into the OVAC tournament.
Edison tops Buckeye Local
CONNORVILLE — The Edison softball team went on the road to Buckeye Local on Friday afternoon and earned a comeback win over the Panthers, 11-5.
The win gives the Wildcats a season sweep of the Panthers and moves them above .500 at 10-9. Buckeye falls to 6-8.
Alli Shrieve had a homer, double and drove in four runs for Edison, while Abigail Boka had a double, single and an RBI, Sophia Henderson drove in three runs, Chloe Peckens had a double.
Leighanne Anderson fired 10 strikeouts in the circle.
For the Panthers, Karli Lander and Adison Muldrew each had a double and an RBI, while Missy Smith had a double and a single.
Lander struck out seven in the circle.
Brooke blanls East Liverpool
WELLSBURG — The Brooke softball team made it back-to-back wins on Friday with a 10-0 run rule win over visiting East Liverpool.
Maggie Diserio had three hits, including a triple, while Emilee McKinney had a double, two singles and two RBIs. Jazmyn Wood drove in four runs with a double and single.
McKinney went all five innings in the circle, striking out three without walking a batter.
