BIGGS, Calif. — Three times a month, the Community Action Agency — or CAA — distributes free food to individuals and families in need throughout the valley.
On Thursday, staff and volunteers gathered at the Biggs Community Hall on B Street, where cars began lining up as early as 10 a.m. The drive-through event offered pre-boxed, healthy food loaded directly into vehicles to ensure a safe, contact-free distribution.
Organizers say the food giveaways not only meet an immediate need but also provide a sense of relief for many struggling residents.
“It’s important to lots of people,” one recipient told Action News Now. “There are lots of homeless people that are in need of food lately. And it really does help them out in our community. So we are grateful for everything that community drive gives to us.”
CAA estimates that Thursday’s distribution served approximately 150 families. Volunteers say the process ran smoothly, with each vehicle moving quickly through the line.
The agency plans to continue its regular giveaways, offering food support to communities across the region.
